The supreme court has just struck down a law that prohibits wine makers from shipping wine directly to out-of-state consumers in a 5-4 decision - fantastic! Not that I wish I could have out-of-state wine shipped to my door (I can't stand wine), but it's nice to see that the small wineries now have the chance to compete. By opening the door to direct shipping, consumers who visit small-town wineries will be able to order the wine they enjoyed while touring.



Consumer choice -- the Ultimate Good in the free market system -- seems to building up steam in all kinds of markets!
