While folks in the US are dealing with the Patriot Act, it looks like folks in Britain are dealing with something far more invasive. Lawmakers plan to build a database that'll retrieve data from a network of traffic cameras that can read license plates. This will enable law enforcement to track the movement of every vehicle on the road.
According to a strategy document drawn up by Acpo, the national data centre in Hendon will be at the heart of a surveillance operation that should deny criminals the use of the roads.
Well that's frightening. Especially when "criminals" and "activists" usually fall under the same policy in these kinds of things.
