NEXT ATTEMPT: WHITE GRAPE CHERRY

My first batch was a bust, so I decided to try again, only this time using a jug of white grape cherry juice, plus about 3/4-cup of sugar. The airlock is sitting on a properly sized bung for the opening of this juice container; hopefully it works out.

josh, can I call you josh? Thanks.

I was wondering what got you started on making wine? I've been contemplating brewing beer myself, but I've wondered if I really need another project.

ha - you can call me josh. :)

I got started because of all the plants growing in the backyard of the house I moved into. My first batch of wine came from a patch of mint that was overgrowing the garden, and after doing some research and realizing that I can make wine out of pretty much anything, I figured I'd just start trying with everything I could get my hands on. Wine packets are very inexpensive (65 cents over here), and with a jug of juice only costing about $2 to $3, it makes for pretty cheap alcohol.

I'd like to eventually make beer, but it seems a little more involved than making wine. Wine is ridiculously simple.

I have carved this into basalt and placed it at the base of my wine rack.
