NEWPROTEST Publishing is a small, independent press based in Olympia, Washington. We publish what we call faith adjacent writing: spiritual narratives that don't fit neatly into the religion-and-spirituality shelf or the self-help shelf, but live somewhere honest in between.

Our mission

We publish stories about what people have actually seen. Not lessons. Not formulas. Witnesses.

The press began as a way to put one book — Turtle Heaven — into the world. It has continued, slowly, because there are more stories to tell, and because there are other writers we'd like to help carry.

Who we are

NEWPROTEST Publishing was founded by Joshua Culley, a writer in Olympia, Washington. The catalog currently centers on his work, but the press is open to collaborators with stories of their own to tell. If that's you, please get in touch.

You can buy our titles on Amazon, Audible, and through select independent bookstores including Browsers Bookshop and Orca Books Co-Op in Olympia. We strongly prefer that you buy local when you can.
