Humanity’s first response to the shame and vulnerability of sin is to hide. To cover ourselves. That’s the lesson of Genesis 3. We ALL do this.

But Genesis 4 shows us two paths: one of righteousness that leads to dying, and one of wickedness that leads to killing.

Now they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”
