IN OTHER TERROR RELATED NEWS...

In California, some Pakistanis were recently arrested in connection with al-Qaida. Apparently, one of the members of the group came to America "to carry out his jihadi mission. Potential targets for attack would include hospitals and large food stores." Craziness. There's no political message. Some of these folks just want to kill Americans. And now the US has lost some plans on building nuclear bombs, and fear that the plans will end up on the black market... which only increases the ability for folks to wreak indiscriminate havoc on US soil.

The solution? The Senate seems to think that the Homeland Security folks are doing such a good job that they want to increase the stranglehold it has over the American people. Namely, they want to allow the FBI to pull up documents on individuals and organizations WITHOUT the approval of a judge. Not only that, but if the FBI designates their subpoenas as "secret," anybody that discloses information on the FBI's activities are subject to a year in prison... and FIVE years in prison if the FBI deems that the disclosure has obstructed the investigation.

I think the solution is scarier than the problem it's supposed to solve.
