PERFECT STORM

Between the current global economic crisis (DJIA took a 700 hit during the bailout vote, which did not pass), Russia's nuclear relationship with Chavez, the beginning of what looks to be a busy hurricane season, all the while ramping up to a foaming-at-the-mouth frantic November election, I'd say we're in for a wild ride...

... for the next several years.

EDIT:

McCain: Obama policies will deepen recession!

Obama: McCain's deregulation too risky for economy!

Oh, shut up, the both of you. This finger-pointing is nothing but fodder for political cartoons. It's shameful.

More than the next few years. The next several decades. 90% of consumable fish are predicted to be gone by 2040. Fresh water supplies are dwindling drastically. Populations are increasing. Anti US sentiment increasing, whilst all hands are indicating they think its time to invade yet another country.

I read about the Russia/Venezuala agreement a couple weeks ago. It was shocking that it wasn't all over the news. Its kind of a big deal!

Why do empires fall? Deficit spending, military over-extension, and an apathetic electorate?
Interesting stuff man.

Yeah - it's looking pretty grim. I'm not one to throw end-times prophecies into real conversations, but it sure feels like we're teetering on the edge of something.
