ZAPPING THE INSURGENTS

Next year, the US military will begin using microwave guns against insurgent forces in Iraq, zapping them in to submission. In theory, it will be used as a crowd-dispersing tool, but sciences are noting that some circumstances might make the "less-than-lethal" tool a little less than "less-than-lethal."
Less than? Greater than? I have no idea. But it apparely might suck for anybody with any metal (keys, coins, jewelry, bone-screws, etc.) on them.
Fortunately, our good friends at blast radius are looking into a way to avoid being zapped. There's an article up on an effective countermeasure against the "pain beam." Good times.
