PREP WORK FOR SECOND INSTALL

Finally! I got some more work done on my 510. I had a couple of things I needed to do before I could throw the engine into the bay (which I'll probably do tomorrow), and since I had some time tonight, I figured I'd get them done.
First, the exhaust header I bought was cut in such a way that the opening hits the transmission, making it very difficult to hook up a coupler for the exhaust pipe. So... I took my angle grinder to it and cut it back a couple of inches. Now I just need to get a coupler...
Second, the mounts I'm using were originally for installing a naps-Z engine, making them a little off for the L-series I'm using. Specifically, they make the engine stand upright instead of tilted to the left. I took the passenger-side mount off, cut a half-inch off of it, and welded it back together. Hopefully that half-inch was enough to tilt it. I'll know when I install the engine and try to shut the hood -- standing upright, the valve cover prevents the hood from closing.
I've heard that the stock L-16 valve cover is shorter, so if it still hits, I may just look to replace my valve cover with the shorter one.
I can't wait until tomorrow! Once the engine is installed, wiring it up will be a breeze, and I might even get the engine fired up by this weekend. woo hoo!
