Got the engine into the car last night. Woo hoo! The only problem I've run into is the fact that I'm using the motormounts that were useful for the Z22E engine in the 510. I wanted to use those mounts because it tilts the engine a bit, making me able to use the Z22E 5-speed transmission I own. It was either that, or use the stock motor mounts and use the same transmission and bent the shift bar, or use a non-Z transmission. I figured using the mounts I had on the block already was the easiest way to go... but now it looks like the engine might be too tall for the hood. There's hardly any clearance, and if the engine moves at all from torque, I'm concerned that it may scratch up the underside of the hood.

The other consequence of using those mounts is that the engine stands up straight instead of leaning. The stock L-motors lean in the 510, and I don't know how important that is. I'll hollar at the 510 folks on the mailing list and see what they have to say about that.
