CLEANING UP THE HEAD

Got the head cleaned up and ready to install onto my block. I've confirmed that the head is an open-chambered A87 head, and have cleaned up what looks like a thousand years of carbon buildup. Bleah. That sucked... the valves must have had over a 1mm thick layer of carbon that I had to scrape off.
I need to do something about a head gasket now. I've got one that doesn't perfectly match up to the block -- it's an L-series headgasket and a Z-series block, and the headgasket covers up certain passages that might be used in the head... I'm not completely sure. I'll have to read up again how that's typically dealt with.
