This story has been spreading on the net recently, and it only reinforces in my mind the need for a complete redesign of "church." In a move that shocks me more than my own experiences at my previous church, the North Carolina East Waynesville Baptist Church kicked out all the democrats, saying that they had to repent for not voting for and supporting Bush.

Do these people even read their bibles? I understand the need to honor the leaders of the land, but that has nothing to do with political differences and disagrements. This is lunacy. Now, the article does mention that the disagrements were regarding biblical hot-topics - abortion and homosexuality. Those that believe that Christians are free to commit such acts as though they are permissible by God are, in fact, incorrect. Nevermind what *the world* does - the church is to keep itself pure from such things. But to suggest that voting republican somehow brings one closer to the truth is complete nonsense.

And folks wonder why people hate church.
