NO GAS TAX

It looks like the house republicans shot down the gas tax proposal, meaning we'll stay the 8th highest state for gas taxes. It looks like the democrats were hoping for a bipartisan vote for the increase, but only eight republicans voted for it. Interestingly, the republicans seem to have shot down the gas tax on account of the current cigarette, liquor and estate taxes. Personally, I say you can tax the cigs and liquor as high as you want - they're both recreation-based consumables.
