INVOKING THE NAME OF GOD

Well, it appears that Bush has played the "God-told-me-to-do-it" card.

Crap.

At this moment, I largely disagree with every decision Bush and the Bush Administration has made. I disagree based on my ethics, my philosphies, and my sense of right and wrong. However... the moment Bush mentions that his instructions are from God, that puts me in an awkward place, because if this report about his claims is true, who am I to challenge the instruction of Almighty God?

Clearly, this is not something that can be answered by any intellectual means. That is, there's no formula here to determine if Bush is telling the truth, or if God has truly spoken to him.

Because I don't know, I'm kind of forced into silence on the issue of Bush sending troops into Afghanistan, into Iraq, and his decision to push for a Palestinian state. Voicing a strong opinion in opposition to Bush's decisions based on my personal ethics is meaningless if God has spoken for it.

Ugh. Time to spend more time in prayer.
